Opening of Disney’s Expedition Everest for Discovery Communications
In 2006, Walt Disney World opened a major new roller coaster attraction called Expedition Everest. Wanting to launch awareness for this new attraction in a big way, a multi-network promotion was created with Discovery Communications. My role was as Project Manager for an original primetime special, which premiered in primetime on Discovery Channel, with a second run on the Science Channel. The groundbreaking documentary took viewers behind the scenes of the making of a new Walt Disney World roller coaster. As part of the project, I negotiated first of its kind access to Walt Disney Imagineering and to the technology that makes up the attraction. The special was the network’s highest rated primetime program to date.
